COLOMBO (News 1st) - The deadline for public officials to submit their asset and liability declarations has been extended until 12:00 midnight on July 7.
The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) stated the extension was given due to a technical issue with the centralized electronic filing system, which prevented some public officials from registering and submitting their declarations.
The Commission had previously announced that annual and post-retirement asset and liability declarations as of March 31, 2026, were required to be submitted on or before today (30).
While declarations may still be submitted until August 31, the Commission emphasized that late submissions will be subject to a financial penalty.
CIABOC also noted that a surge in users accessing the online system on June 28 caused technical difficulties, preventing many public officials from completing their submissions.
