Water Supply to Several Areas to Be Fully Restored by Tonight

COLOMBO (News 1st); The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) says water supply to several areas, including Homagama, Nugegoda, and Maharagama, will be fully restored by tonight.

Deputy General Manager for the West Central Region, Disna Pannila, says that maintenance work on the main Kalatuwawa–Maharagama supply line was completed by 8 p.m. last night. 

The Water Board had previously announced a 24-hour suspension of supply from 8 p.m. on the 24th to facilitate urgent maintenance work. 

However, despite the completion of repairs, water supply was not restored in several areas even after more than 24 hours.

Authorities say the delay is due to the time required for normal pressure levels to return across the distribution network.


Officials confirm that full restoration is now expected by tonight.
