Veteran Sri Lankan Artist Motagedara Wanigarathna Passes Away at 93

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Veteran Sri Lankan artist Motagedara Wanigarathna has passed away.

Born on February 16, 1933, in Motagedara, Matara, Wanigarathna was 93 years old at the time of his passing.

Wanigarathna was a renowned newspaper illustrator, cartoonist, sculptor, makeup artist and costume designer for stage dramas as well.

He studied art at the Heywood Institute of Art in Colombo and the author of “Motagedara Rekha Rhythm – Theory of Drawing”, which served as a guide for art students.
