Two Wild Elephants Died of Electrocution

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Two wild elephants have died after coming into with an electric wire fence set up on a land in Maligawila Jothi Amuna area in Okkampitiya.

The Kurunegala Wildlife Regional Office stated that the caretaker of the land has been arrested in connection with the incident.

An elephant aged around one and a half years and another elephant aged around 10 years died due to the incident. 

Authorities say paddy, sugarcane, and coconut were cultivated on the land.

Further investigations into the incident are underway.
