COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Department of Agriculture has urged farmers to use water sparingly, in preparation for the possible impact of El Niño conditions in the future.
Accordingly, Director General at the Department of Agriculture Thushara Wickramaarachchi advised farmers to cultivate short-term crop varieties as a precautionary measure.
He assured that farmers should not be alarmed unnecessarily about cultivation during the Yala season.
The Director General also reiterated that farmers should not develop undue fears regarding cultivation of crops during Yala season.
