COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka delivered a dominant performance to secure an impressive victory over Bhutan in an international friendly football match held in Bangkok, Thailand, thrilling fans with a commanding 4-1 win.
The Sri Lankan side showcased attacking strength and discipline throughout the match, sealing the victory with four well-taken goals while limiting Bhutan to a single response late in the game.
The match, which was broadcast live to Sri Lankan audiences via Sirasa TV and TV1, gave football fans across the island the opportunity to witness a strong outing by the national team.
Sri Lanka opened the scoring early in the encounter with a goal from Wade Dekker in the 16th minute, setting the tone for what would become a one-sided performance.
The Lions doubled their lead in the 63rd minute when Bharath Suresh found the back of the net, putting Sri Lanka firmly in control of the match at 2-0.
Continuing their attacking momentum, Waseem Razeek added a third goal in the 78th minute, further extending Sri Lanka’s advantage and effectively putting the game beyond Bhutan’s reach.
Bhutan managed to pull one back in the 80th minute through Rinzin Dorji, briefly narrowing the gap.
However, Sri Lanka sealed the match in style during stoppage time, as Rahul Suresh scored in the 90+2 minute to complete a comprehensive 4-1 victory.
