COLOMBO (News 1st): The Sri Lankan Lion on the Track, Yevan David, is preparing for another landmark moment in his motorsport career as he gears up to compete in Monaco for the first time when the FIA Formula 3 Championship resumes this weekend.

The 18-year-old racing driver arrives in the Principality following an extended break after the season-opening round in Melbourne, balancing his racing commitments with his A-Level examinations in Mathematics, Physics, and Psychology.

Despite the demands of his studies, David has remained focused on his FIA Formula 3 campaign, undertaking extensive simulator training and participating in FIA Formula 3 testing at the Red Bull Ring to prepare for one of the most challenging circuits in world motorsport.

"It's been a long break away from racing in FIA F3, but I've been keeping busy with my school," David said. "I'm finishing my A-levels this year, so I've been focusing on maths, physics and psychology, while also spending time in Sri Lanka with my supporters."

Monaco, widely regarded as one of the most iconic and demanding venues in motorsport, represents another significant milestone for David, who became the first Sri Lankan driver to compete in FIA Formula 3.

"To be the first Sri Lankan driver in FIA Formula 3 and now be racing in Monaco is something I still don't think I've fully comprehended," he said. "Melbourne was incredibly special because it was my first Formula 1 weekend and now we're going straight to Monaco, another huge milestone."

David believes the break between races has allowed him to reflect on his debut weekend in Melbourne and return stronger for the European leg of the championship.

"The break has actually been beneficial. I've had time to really analyse Melbourne, change my approach and work on areas where I needed to improve. I'm confident I've learned a lot and can hit the ground running," he added.

The young Sri Lankan has spent countless hours preparing for Monaco in the simulator, emphasizing that precision, confidence, and adaptability will be key on the narrow street circuit where qualifying often determines race results.

Adding further significance to the occasion, David will race in Monaco wearing a special helmet paying tribute to legendary Brazilian driver Ayrton Senna, whose memorable performances on the streets of Monaco inspired generations of racers.

As David balances the pressures of completing his studies while competing at the highest levels of junior motorsport, his appearance in Monaco marks yet another chapter in a remarkable journey that continues to inspire Sri Lankan motorsport fans around the world.
