COLOMBO (News 1st); The Supreme Court has concluded hearings today (2) in the fundamental rights petition filed by former Eastern Province Chief Minister Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan, widely known as Pillayan.
The petition was filed challenging his arrest and detention under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA), with the former provincial leader alleging that his fundamental rights had been violated through the legal process.
After hearing submissions in the case, the Supreme Court bench announced that proceedings in the matter have now been completed.
However, the Court decided to reserve its judgment, postponing the announcement of the final ruling to a later date.
