Vehicle Imports Surge 900 Percent In First Quarter Of 2026

COLOMBO (News 1st)The Central Bank states that vehicles worth over Rs. 195.95 billion have been imported during the first 3 months of 2026 alone.

Accordingly, vehicles worth nearly Rs. 62.33 billion have been imported in the month of March alone, which includes both private and commercial vehicles.

Central Bank reports also mention that the expenditure on vehicle imports in the first quarter of this year has increased by a percentage of 900% compared to the first quarter of last year.
