COLOMBO (News 1st) - Due to the rise in global fuel prices, the National System Operator (Pvt) Ltd has submitted a revised cost estimate for electricity generation for the second and third quarters of year 2026 for the approval of the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL).
The Commission announced that it has decided to hold a public consultation regarding the proposed electricity tariff revision based on these estimates.
According to the PUCSL the consultation paper on the tariff revision, prepared after reviewing the generation cost estimates, will be published today.
All interested parties are invited to review the document and submit their comments and suggestions.
The written submissions can be submitted until May 6, 2026.
Oral Presentation of Submissions will take place on May 6, 2026, at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) in Colombo.
Director of the Public Utilities Commission, Jayanath Herath, noted that the final decision regarding the electricity tariff revision is scheduled to be announced on the 9th of May.
