Bus Ticket Scams Under Probe As Ministry Warns Of Legal Action

COLOMBO (News 1st);The Ministry of Transport, Highways, and Urban Development has announced that legal action will be taken against those engaging in bus ticket scams during the festive season.

Minister Bimal Rathnayake urged the public to report such incidents immediately.

Accordingly, complaints regarding these scams can be directed to 0704755600, any local police station, or the contact numbers of the Ministry of Transport and the National Transport Commission (NTC).

Furthermore, the Minister stated that the National Transport Commission deployed several inspection teams between April 8th and 10th to monitor ticket irregularities.
During these operations, 194 buses were inspected, and 16 were identified for overcharging passengers and failing to issue valid tickets.
