Police to Strictly Enforce Traffic Laws During Festive Season

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Police have announced that traffic laws will be strictly followed throughout the festive season.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Traffic Control and Road Safety, W.P.J. Senadheera, said that special teams have been deployed to ensure the enforcement of traffic laws. 

DIG Sendheera emphasized that steps have been taken to avoid traffic congestion due to lack of parking spaces for commuters who visit shopping malls, clothing stores and other shops on the roadside. 

Accordingly, shop owners have been advised to provide necessary parking spaces or make alternative arrangements for customers. 

Additionally, relevant police authorities have been advised to strictly enforce traffic laws for those who violate rules especially with regards to parking spaces on the road.
