COLOMBO (News 1st) - The weekly fuel quotas allocated under the QR code system will be increased with effect from midnight today.
Accordingly, several vehicle categories will receive higher fuel allowances in a move aimed at easing current fuel restrictions and supporting daily transportation needs.
The quota for cars has been increased to 25 liters, marking an increase of 10 liters.
Three-wheelers will now be entitled to 20 liters, up by 5 liters, while motorcycles will receive 8 liters, reflecting an increase of 3 liters.
Meanwhile, buses will see a significant increase, with their quota raised to 100 liters, an addition of 40 liters.
Vans will be allocated 50 liters, up by 10 liters, and land vehicles will receive 40 liters, marking an increase of 15 liters.
The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation says that there is no change in the fuel quota allocated for lorries and special-purpose vehicles.
