COLOMBO (News 1st);Secretary to the Ministry of Energy Professor Udayanga Hemapala, said that Sri Lanka has sufficient fuel stocks to meet the country’s monthly requirements, and the ongoing Middle East conflict will not disrupt oil supplies.
He stated that the required fuel stocks for CPC, IOC, Sinopec, and RM Parks are already secured for at least one month.
Professor Hemapala further confirmed that fuel shipments previously ordered are on schedule.
Of the incoming vessels, only one is arriving from the affected Middle East region, while the others are coming from India and Singapore, minimizing the risk of supply disruption.
However, he cautioned that while supply remains stable, global oil prices may increase due to the conflict, which is beyond Sri Lanka’s control.
