COLOMBO (News 1st) - Cabinet Spokesperson Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa gave his comments on the ongoing legal and investigative efforts on the Central Bank bond scam. 

Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa highlighted that Arjuna Mahendran who remains as the suspect, is currently reported to have resided in Singapore. 

He had originally departed after informing then-Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe of his travel plans for a wedding.

Formal indictments have been filed, against the case and is actively moving through th judiciary proceedings. 

The Minister emphasized that proceedings will continue regardless of whether Mahendran is physically present in the country.

Additionally, The government is currently engaged in diplomatic interventions to facilitate the suspect's return. 

While acknowledging that these international processes are complex, Minister Dr. Jayatissa affirmed that the state is working to expedite his arrival through official channels.

The Minister reiterated the government’s firm stance that no individual will be permitted to evade the law, stating that it is a priority to ensure everyone involved in the incident is held accountable.
