COLOMBO (News 1st) - Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Cooperative Development, Wasantha Samarasinghe says that 100,000 LP gas cylinders equivalent to 1,500 metric tons of LP Gas are set to be distributed today with the aim of reducing current market shortages.
Two additional vessels carrying gas are scheduled to arrive in the island
Accordingly, a vessel carrying 3,900 metric tons of LP gas is scheduled to arrive in the isand on the February 25, while another vessel carrying 3,700 metric tons of LP gas is scheduled to arrive on the February 28.
Meanwhile, A special meeting is scheduled today between Ministry officials and representatives of Laugfs Gas to address the ongoing supply crisis.
The Minister warned that legal action will be taken against the entity ompany if they fail to resume adequate distribution.
The company has been given the period until March 12 to ensure sufficient stocks are available for all their customers.
