Fourth US Coast Guard Vessel To Depart For Sri Lanka Today

COLOMBO (News 1st); According to commander of the United States Pacific Fleet, Admiral Stephen T. Koehler, 
The fourth Coast Guard vessel to be donated to Sri Lanka is scheduled to depart the United States today.

He made this statement during a meeting with Deputy Minister Arun Hemachandra at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism.

Discussions focused on ongoing defence cooperation between the two countries and recent developments in bilateral ties.

The Deputy Minister expressed appreciation for the prompt response of the United States to the ‘Ditwah disaster relief efforts.

Meanwhile, Admiral Koehler met with Commander of Navy in Sri Lana Kanchana Banagoda yesterday.

The Navy stated that bilateral matters of mutual importance, including maritime security and regional cooperation, were discussed. A group of diplomatic officials from the US Embassy in Sri Lanka also attended the meeting.

Admiral Stephen T. Koehler assumed duties as Commander of the United States Pacific Fleet in 2024. He arrived in the island on an official visit the day before yesterday.
