President Anura Kumara Dissanayake Returns After Attending AI Impact Summit 2026 In New Delhi

COLOMBO (News 1st); President Anura Kumara Dissanayake returned to the island last night after completing his visit to New Delhi, where he attended the AI Impact Summit 2026 at the special invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The AI Impact Summit 2026 c was held in New Delhi with the participation of world leaders, diplomats, and technology experts, focusing on the responsible use of artificial intelligence for the benefit of humanity.

Addressing the Heads of State Session on the evening of the 19th, President Dissanayake emphasized that AI technology should be harnessed to promote the cultural values and capabilities of humanity.

During the summit, the President held bilateral discussions with French President Emmanuel Macron, Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

A special meeting was also held between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Dissanayake.

Meanwhile, during the visit, the President met with Donald Trump’s Special Representative for South and Central Asia and US Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor.

AI Impact Summit 2026 commenced on the 16th at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, with representatives from 45 countries participating. The Heads of State Summit, attended by leaders from 20 countries at the invitation of Prime Minister Modi, was held on the 19th.

The President departed the island last Tuesday to attend the summit.
