Two Police Officers Arrested Over Jinthupitiya Shooting

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Two police officers who were on night patrol in Jinthupitiya have been arrested in connection with the shooting incident in Jinthupitiya, Colombo.

According to the police, a Sergeant and a Constable attached to the Aduruppu Street Police Station were taken into custody. 

They were arrested for failing to take necessary action to prevent the shooting.

The two arrested officers are scheduled to be produced before the court today.

The incident occurred last Saturday around 8:15 PM inside a hairsalon in Jinthupitiya, Colombo 13. 

Two individuals arriving on a motorcycle carried out the attack, while the rider remained on the bike, the gunman entered the shop and opened fire at people inside the hairsalon. 

The shooter reportedly fired approximately 17 rounds. 

Five people inside the hair salon sustained injuries, and one of the individuals succumbed to injuries.
