Two Brothers Detained for Questioning Over Akuregoda Double Murder

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Two brothers from the same family, arrested in connection with the Akuregoda double murder, have been granted court approval to be questioned under a detention order.

The suspects were presented before the Kaduwela Magistrate’s Court today, after which the court permitted investigators to detain and question them until tomorrow. The two brothers are aged 27 and 20.

They were arrested on allegations of transporting the firearm reportedly used in the killings.

Meanwhile, police say the gunmen who arrived to murder the lawyer and his wife have now been identified. Investigating officers stated that special operations have been launched to apprehend the remaining suspects.
