Eight Police Teams Probe Fatal Shootings in Jintupitiya and Waskaduwa

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Eight police teams have launched investigations into two separate shooting incidents that occurred last night in Jinthupitiya, Colombo and Wadiyamankada, Kalutara.

According to the police, the shootings occured due to a conflict between two organized criminal gangs.

One person died following a shooting near the No. 01 Railway Station in Wadiyamankada, Kalutara approximately 7:45 PM last night near a retail shop.

Police stated that the individual died after being admitted to Nagoda Hospital.

The deceased was a 35-year-old man.

An unidentified gunman who arrived on a motorcycle opened fire on the victim, who was a shop owner.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, one person was killed, and three others were injured in a shooting that occurred in Jinthupitiya.

According to police, the injured individuals have been admitted to the Colombo National Hospital.

The incident took place around 8:15 PM last night. 

Two individuals who arrived on a motorcycle carried out the attack.

The injured individuals are currently receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Colombo National Hospital.
