COLOMBO (News 1st); A date has been fixed to re-summon the fundamental rights petitions filed seeking an order to nullify the decision taken by the former Cabinet to hand over the electronic visa issuance process to two private companies.

This was announced today when the petitions were taken up before the three-judge bench of the Supreme Court comprising Chief Justice Preethi Padman Surasena, Justices Shiran Gooneratne, and Achala Wengappuli.

After considering the submissions, the Supreme Court bench ordered that the petitions be taken up again on the 25th of next month.

Former Parliamentarians, including President’s Counsel S. A. Sumanthiran and Patali Champika Ranawaka, as well as incumbent MP Rauff Hakeem, are among those who filed these fundamental rights petitions.
