COLOMBO (News 1st); Scotland powered to their first win of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 with a dominant 73‑run victory over debutants Italy at Eden Gardens.
Batting first, Scotland smashed 207/4, led by a blazing 84 off 54 from George Munsey and a rapid 41 off 18 by Brandon McMullen, before Michael Leask blasted 22 off 5 balls to seal a huge total.
Italy’s chase unraveled early as Leask struck with the first ball, finishing with a brilliant 4/17. Only the Manenti brothers resisted, Ben (52) and Harry (37) adding a fighting 73-run stand, but Italy folded for 134 in 16.4 overs.
Scotland sealed a commanding win and valuable points in Group C.
