Colombo (News 1st):Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption has decided to investigate a complaint filed by suspended Chief of Staff and Deputy Secretary General of Parliament, Chaminda Kumara Kularatne.
The complaint is reportedly filed against Speaker Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne
Kularatne’s suspension was announced on January 23, 2026 in a letter signed by Secretary General of Parliament Kushani Rohanadeera, following a decision by the Parliamentary Staff Advisory Committee.
The committee, which includes the Speaker, Leader of the House, Leader of the Opposition, the Minister of Finance or their representative, and the Secretary General of Parliament, met on January 23 to take the decision.
Present at the meeting were Speaker Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne, Leader of the House Minister Bimal Ratnayake, Chief Opposition Whip Gayantha Karunathilaka representing the Leader of the Opposition, Deputy Minister of Finance Anil Jayantha representing the Minister of Finance, and Secretary General of Parliament Kushani Rohanadeera.
Meanwhile, the Commission also confirmed it will investigate a complaint filed against Kularatne, reportedly concerning his appointment.
