Fertilizer Distribution To Remain Open On Weekends And Holidays

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The decision has been made to keep all agricultural service centers open on weekends and public holidays.

Commissioner General of the Department of Agrarian Development in Sri Lanka Dhammika Ranatunga said the move was aimed at ensuring the timely distribution of fertilizer for the Yala season.

He added that arrangements have been made to supply the required fertilizer directly from agricultural service centers. 

A sack of fertilizer will be issued from Colombo warehouses at Rs. 9,500, with plans in place to cover transportation costs for delivery to farmers.

Meanwhile, the National Fertilizer Secretariat confirmed that a urea fertilizer shipment is expected to arrive in the country by the 6th.
