COLOMBO (News 1st): The Holy Devnimori Relics of Lord Buddha, arrived in Sri Lanka this afternoon.
The relics arrived on a special aircraft of the Indian Air Force and were received with great reverence at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake, where the casket containing the relics was placed on a ceremonial pedestal.
The reception of the Holy Relics was attended by a group of ministers and members of the Maha Sangha.
The Holy Relics were accompanied by a high-level Indian delegation led by Shri Acharya Devvrat, Governor of Gujarat, and Shri Harsh Sanghavi, Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat, along with senior monks and officials.
Following the official reception, the sacred relics were escorted in a grand procession to the Gangaramaya Temple in Hunupitiya, Colombo.
The xposition of the Sacred Relics will be inaugurated under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake today.
The Exposition of the Sacred Devnimori Relics will begin at 6:00 a.m. tomorrow and will remain open to the public until 7:00 a.m., on February 11.
The exposition of the relics will remain open 24 hours a day.
