COLOMBO (News 1st); The Colombo Magistrate’s Court ordered that the case filed against former Minister Rajitha Senaratne and another suspect, over an alleged financial loss exceeding Rs. 20 million to the government, be taken up again on July 10.
The case concerns a controversial project in which the Kirinda Fisheries Harbor sand‑extraction contract was awarded to a Korean company, a decision that allegedly caused a substantial financial loss to the state.
Proceedings were taken up before Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama.
Both suspects appeared before open court as officers from the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption outlined their submissions. They informed the court that several more investigations related to the incident were still underway, and therefore requested an additional date to present further reports.
After reviewing the submissions, the Chief Magistrate directed that the case be recalled on July 10.
