Five Politicians and More than 80 Public Officials Arrested for Bribery and Corruption in 2025

COLOMBO (News1st): The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has arrested 84 public officials during 130 special raids conducted across the island in 2025. 

According to the Commission, the majority of these public officials arrested were from the Dept. of Police, totaling 30 police personnels.

Accordingly 13 Police Sergeants: 

09 Police Constables

04 Sub-Inspectors 

02 Chief Inspectors

01 Inspector of Police 

01 Police Constable Driver, were arrested. 

CIABOC confirmed in addition to state officials, 15 politicians were also arrested during the same period
