COLOMBO (News 1st); A large stone—suspected to be a gemstone—has been discovered in the Delthotawatta area of Galaha, Gampola.
Following the landslides triggered by Cyclone Ditwah the Sri Muthu Mari Amman Kovil in the Galaha Delthotawatta area, along with the surrounding land, was severely affected.
Residents believe that this stone may have moved to its current position near the kovil as a result of the landslide.
The Galaha Police have now secured the area, and officials from the Gem and Jewellery Authority have examined the stone.
An officer from the Authority stated that a detailed report on the stone’s composition will be released within the next two days.
