President Launches Housing Drive for 31,218 Families

COLOMBO (News 1st); The inauguration ceremony of the 2026 National Housing Programme commenced today in the village of Meesalai, Chavakachcheri, Jaffna.

The event was held under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

Under the theme “A Place of Our Own, A Beautiful Life,” a total of 31,218 houses will be constructed across the country through this programme.

As part of today’s inaugural event, 2,500 families in the Northern and Eastern Provinces—who continue to remain without proper housing due to the effects of the war—will be provided with new homes.
