National Dengue Control Unit Warns of Rising Number of Dengue Cases Across the Island

COLOMBO (News1st): The National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU) of the Ministry of Health says that there is a noticeable increase in the number of dengue patients being reported island-wide.

Dr. Kapila Kannangara, The Acting Director of NDCU, said that a significant spike in dengue cases has been noted in the Galle and Matara districts.

Dr. Kannangara said that dengue cases have also seen a rise in the Eastern Province.

A total of 3,478 dengue patients have been reported across the island in the first 14 days of 2026.
