COLOMBO (News 1st); The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will convene today to review Sri Lanka’s formal request for emergency financial assistance under the Rapid Financing Instrument (RFI).
The request, amounting to US$200 million—equivalent to 26 percent of Sri Lanka’s IMF quota—comes in the aftermath of Cyclone Ditwah, which caused widespread destruction across the island.
In a statement issued earlier, Evan Papageorgiou, IMF Mission Chief for Sri Lanka, emphasized that the IMF remains actively engaged with Sri Lankan authorities during this critical period.
