Nepal Pledges USD 200,000 in Aid to Sri Lanka

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Government of Nepal has expressed deep sorrow and solidarity with Sri Lanka following the recent catastrophic floods that claimed numerous lives and caused extensive damage across the island.

In an official statement, Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs conveyed heartfelt condolences to bereaved families and wished for the swift recovery of those injured. The message reaffirmed Nepal’s commitment to stand by Sri Lanka during this challenging time, emphasizing the close bilateral ties between the two nations.

As a gesture of solidarity, Nepal announced an assistance package of USD 200,000 (approximately Rs 66 million) to support relief and recovery operations in flood-affected regions.

“The Government and people of Nepal remain confident in the resilience and strength of the people of Sri Lanka as they recover and rebuild from this tragedy,” the statement read.
