Emergency Law Is Only for Disaster Management

COLOMBO (News 1st); President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has assured that the State of Public Emergency in Sri Lanka, currently in effect applies exclusively to disaster management and will not impact civil liberties.

The President emphasized that swift measures are being taken to restore essential infrastructure, including water, electricity, and communication facilities, in flood-affected areas.

He further pledged that all individuals displaced by the disaster will receive government assistance, ensuring no one is left without support during this national crisis.
