53Kg Of Heroin Seized Off Southern Seas: Suspects To Be Produced In Court Today

Colombo (News 1st); The Police Narcotics Bureau says the suspects arrested in the seas off Galle with 53 kilograms of heroin will be produced in court today, with detention orders to be obtained.

Police stated that the suspects were handed over to the Bureau by the Navy.

According to information received, five suspects were apprehended by the Navy in southern waters along with a multi-day fishing vessel, on suspicion of transporting narcotics.

The Navy said the vessel was brought to the Galle Port, where an inspection carried out with the assistance of Police Narcotics Bureau experts uncovered approximately 53 kilograms and 134 grams of heroin on board.
