WhatsApp Used to Coordinate Prison Officer’s Murder

COLOMBO (News 1st); A suspect linked to the fatal shooting of a former prison officer near the Bolgoda Bridge was arrested by the Kalutara Crimes Division.

Investigations have revealed that the suspect was allegedly involved in coordinating the murder via WhatsApp.

Upon arrest, police recovered five sharp swords from the suspect’s possession. 

The individual, a 28-year-old resident of Hirana, Panadura, is expected to be produced before the Panadura Magistrate’s Court.

The murder occurred on the evening of August 21, when two individuals on a motorcycle opened fire on the former prison officer while he was traveling in a car. Several suspects have already been taken into custody in connection with the incident.
