COLOMBO (News 1st): Sri Lankan police have confirmed that steps are underway to bring back Ishara Sewwandi, the suspect in the murder of Ganemulle Sanjeewa, along with others arrested in Nepal, by tomorrow, October 15.

Ishara Sewwandi and five other suspects were arrested during a special joint operation involving Sri Lanka's Criminal Investigation Department (CID), the Western Province North Crimes Division, and Nepalese security forces.

The group was apprehended in an area approximately 18 kilometers from Kathmandu, the Capital of Nepal.

According to police, those arrested include two residents from Gampaha and Nugegoda, as well as a couple from Jaffna.

The murder of Sanjeewa Kumara Samararathna, also known as "Ganemulle Sanjeewa", took place on February 19 earlier this year.

"Ganemulle Sanjeewa” was fatally shot at the Hultsdorf No. 05 Court Complex.

Later investigations revealed that the main suspect of the murder, Ishara Sewwandi, had fled the country, following the shooting.
