COLOMBO (News 1st): Sri Lankans will have a rare chance to witness a supermoon today. According to the Arthur C. Clarke Institute for Advanced Technology, the moon will appear larger and brighter than the usual full moon, approximately 7 percent bigger than normal.
The institute also noted that the planet Saturn will be visible close to the full moon, providing a spectacular sight for skywatchers.
Caution is advised near coastal areas as experts warn that the supermoon may cause higher tides along the coast compared to other days.
Sky enthusiasts are encouraged to step outside after sunset to enjoy this celestial display.
