Salary Disparities to Be Addressed in Budget

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils, and Local Government says that this year’s budget will address salary disparities for certain groups of public servants.

Minister of Public Administration, Provincial Councils, and Local Government, Dr. Chandana Aberathna, said that a further portion of the salary increments for public servants announced in the previous budget is planned to be paid in this year’s budget.

The Minister also noted that an accelerated program is underway to eliminate salary disparities within the public service.

The 2026 budget, which will be the second reading of the budget speech, is scheduled to be presented to Parliament by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, in his capacity as Minister of Finance, on the 7th of November.
