50 Bus Conductors Fined for Failing to Issue Passenger Tickets

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Western Province Road Passenger Transport Authority reported that 50 private bus conductors have been fined for failing to issue tickets to passengers.

Chairman Gamini Jasinghe said that inspections began on the 1st of this month with the enforcement of the law mandating ticket issuance for passengers in private buses operating within the Western Province.

Accordingly, several teams are conducting inspections across the Colombo, Gampaha, and Kalutara districts.

The Authority further announced that bus conductors who fail to issue tickets will be fined Rs. 750, required to attend a one-day discipline training program, and suspended from duty for three days.
