Japan's Nippon Foundation Pledges Support for Sri Lanka

COLOMBO (News 1st); President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, currently on an official visit to Japan at the invitation of the Japanese government, met with Yohei Sasakawa, the founding chairman of the Nippon Foundation at the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo.

The meeting focused on strengthening the longstanding friendship between Japan and Sri Lanka, with both parties expressing commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation.

Sasakawa reaffirmed the Nippon Foundation’s continued support for uplifting the livelihoods of all communities in Sri Lanka.

He also presented future plans to renovate and modernize 100 schools in the Northern and Eastern provinces, aiming to improve educational infrastructure in post-conflict regions.

President Dissanayake expressed his gratitude for the foundation’s sustained dedication to social service and development in Sri Lanka.

He acknowledged the Nippon Foundation’s long-term contributions toward national progress and social welfare.
