Sri Lanka Attracts Over $1 Billion In FDI Under President Dissanayake

COLOMBO(News 1st);Since President Anura Kumara Dissanayake assumed office, foreign direct investment in the country has exceeded one billion US dollars.

Chairman of the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka, Arjuna Herath said that the country received 1.048 billion US dollars in foreign direct investment over the past year.

The largest inflows came from into port-related construction, the tyre industry, and the tourism sector.

Notably, over 65% of these investments were made by leading global investors. 

Herath added that 152 foreign investors have invested in the country since President Anura Kumara Dissanayake assumed office. 

Meanwhile, he noted that Sri Lanka attracted 780 million dollars in foreign investments in the first eight months of 2025 alone, and expressed confidence that the one-billion-dollar target for the year will be achieved.
