UNP Lifts Ban On Members Who Joined SJB

COLOMBO (News 1st); The United National Party (UNP) has decided to lift all disciplinary bans and suspensions imposed on party members who previously joined the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB).

The decision was made during a meeting of the UNP’s Working Committee held yesterday (September 16) at the party headquarters Sirikotha, under the leadership of UNP Leader and former President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

To ensure the legality and procedural integrity of this decision, the Working Committee also resolved to appoint a special legal review committee headed by former Attorney General and President’s Counsel Tilak Marapana.

Speaking on the development, UNP Chairman Vajira Abeywardena stated that the decision removes longstanding barriers and opens the door for collaborative political engagement between the UNP and its former members.
