UPDATE: Ranil To Appear In Court Via Zoom

COLOMBO (News 1st); Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe, currently remanded in a case related to alleged misuse of public funds, will participate in court proceedings via Zoom due to health issues.

This was confirmed by News 1st's correspondents present at the Fort Magistrate's Court for the legal matter.

Former Sri Lanka President Ranil Wickramasinghe, who has been held in remand custody since last Friday.

Wickremesinghe's health issues have led to his hospitalization in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Colombo National Hospital. As a result, his physical appearance in court was unlikely.

This development comes after Wickremesinghe's arrest on August 22 and subsequent remand until August 26.
