COLOMBO(News 1st): The National System Operator states that one generator at the Lakvijaya Power Plant in Norochcholai is scheduled to be reconnected to the national grid today.

This will add a capacity of 300 megawatts (MW) to the national grid. Meanwhile, plans are in place to manage the electricity supply today as well by dividing the island into four zones.

Accordingly, the power supply to these zones will be suspended between 4:30 PM and 8:30 PM. Steps to manage the island's electricity supply were initiated the day before yesterday following the total shutdown of the Norochcholai Power Plant due to a sudden power failure.

A total capacity of 810 megawatts was lost to the national grid due to the breakdown of the Norochcholai Power Plant.
