Sri Lanka Welcomed Over 116,000 Tourists in June

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka recorded a significant influx of foreign tourists in June, with 116,469 arrivals reported during the first 26 days of the month.

India emerged as the leading source market, contributing 32,977 visitors. Other top contributors included the United Kingdom, China, and Pakistan, among nine countries that showed strong travel interest in Sri Lanka during this period.

The cumulative number of international tourist arrivals for 2025 has now reached 1,146,272, reflecting a steady recovery in the tourism sector.

In terms of revenue, Sri Lanka earned approximately USD 1.543 billion from tourism during the first five months of the year. 

This marks a 9.8% increase compared to the same period in 2024, when the country earned USD 1.4056 billion, according to the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.
