COLOMBO (News 1st); In connection with the 2012 Greek financial crisis, a case has been filed against former Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal and three other respondents.

They are accused of causing a loss exceeding Rs. 1.8 billion to the Sri Lankan government by investing public funds in Greek bonds, despite clear signs of economic collapse in Greece.

The Colombo High Court today scheduled the case to be heard on October 10, and the matter was taken up in the presence of High Court Judge R.S.S. Sapuwidha.

During today's proceedings, the legal representative for the Bribery Commission informed the court that the relevant case documents would be handed over to the defense today.

It was also revealed that the defense has already filed three revision applications before the Court of Appeal, challenging the rejection of preliminary objections related to the case.

These applications are scheduled to be reviewed on September 19.

Taking these facts into consideration, the High Court Judge stated that it would be appropriate to schedule the case for a date after the Court of Appeal hearing.

The judge also clarified that the case would not be called for mere appearances and requested the attorneys to propose a suitable date.

Accordingly, the case has now been officially scheduled for October 10.
