COLOMBO (News 1st); France has expressed its willingness to expedite the restructuring of the bilateral debt agreement with Sri Lanka.
This assurance was conveyed during a meeting today between Rémi Lambert, the French Ambassador to Sri Lanka, and Sri Lanka’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism, Vijitha Herath, held at the Ministry premises.
The Ambassador commended the Sri Lankan government’s forward-looking economic reform agenda and reaffirmed France’s commitment to working collaboratively with Sri Lanka in international forums and bilateral engagements.
Minister Herath emphasized the importance of concluding the ongoing debt restructuring process swiftly, in a manner that is mutually beneficial. In response, the French envoy confirmed that France is fully supportive of finalizing the process promptly and constructively.
