War Heroes Commemoration Held Under President's Patronage

COLOMBO (News 1st): Sri Lanka marks the 16th anniversary of the end of the civil war with the National War Heroes commemoration today.

The event is being held under the patronage of the President and the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, Anura Kumara Disanayake, at the War Heroes Monument in Battaramulla.

The three commanders who led the final phase of the war - Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka, Admiral of the fleet Wasantha Karannagod, and Air Marshal Roshan Gunatilake are taking part in the commemoration, joined by the current Deputy Minister of Defence, (Retd) Major General Aruna Jayasekara.
