Main Suspect in Murder of Dan Priyasad Arrested

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Police have arrested the main suspect in the murder of SLPP Kolonnawa Pradeshiya Sabha candidate Dan Priyasad.

The 52-year-old suspect, a resident of Webada, was apprehended in the Kurunduwatta Police Division. 

Authorities confirmed that he is also a suspect in the earlier murder of Dan Priyasad’s brother.

Police further noted that another suspect, arrested on April 24 in connection with Priyasad’s killing, is currently in remand custody.

Dan Priyasad sustained gunshot injuries during a shooting at an apartment building in Salamulla, Wellampitiya, on the night of April 22. 

He later died while receiving treatment at the National Hospital.

The Crime Division of Western Province South range is conducting further investigations.
